G.A.I.N. – Powered by Lowe’s
Charlotte Networks skilled volunteers partnered with A Better World to build, migrate and implement a Sharepoint site that will serve as a central location for file storage. A Better World expects to save over 400 hours annually and expand current programs as a result of their most recent project completed as a part of Apparo’s G.A.I.N. program.
A Better World is an after-school program for at-risk kids who live in troubled homes and neighborhoods. They equip them with the skills and confidence to be responsible adults by nurturing their physical, academic and spiritual development.
A Better World embarked on their next journey of G.A.I.N., an Apparo program generously sponsored by Lowe’s and EY. ABW partnered with Project Volunteer, Cory Aurandt, from Charlotte Networks to build, migrate and implement a SharePoint site. Having documents organized and saved in a central location is expected to save staff over 400 hours annually, a staff value of $10,400. Because of this time savings, ABW anticipates having the time to invest in and grow their Reading Buddies program eight-fold (from 8 to 67 students). This will ensure each child they serve has an individual reading buddy to work with each week.
Prior to this project, ABW had plans to hire two new part time staff. Thanks to the operational efficiencies achieved as a result of this project, they were able to combine positions and reduce that need to one new part time hire. In addition, ABW has critical donor data readily available allowing for the potential to increase revenue from current and potential funders.
Taylor Justice, ABW Program Director, described her experience working on this project as “valuable and rewarding,” adding that SharePoint will “be a game changer and will boost the way A Better World serves the community.“
Project Volunteer, Cory Aurandt, contributed nearly 25 hours and delivered a project worth over $6,000. His contribution to ABW means more children will receive the support and encouragement they need to grow into confident, successful adults. Aurandt enjoyed working on such an impactful project, sharing, “We all want to feel like our work makes a difference. By enabling A Better World to leverage the Microsoft 365 platform, they’ll continue their good work with greater speed and efficiency.” Apparo and ABW are so thankful to Aurandt for using his time and skills to make a difference in our community.
