G.A.I.N. – powered by Lowe’s
Divergent IT and CapTech skilled volunteers have completed another phase in their G.A.I.N. journey with JazzArts Charlotte: their migration to SharePoint. They anticipate improved efficiency, security and the potential for increased revenue.
JazzArts Charlotte’s mission is to connect the cultural community and develop an audience for jazz through quality education, performance and musician support. In this phase of their G.A.I.N. journey, they were matched to two corporate volunteers: Matthew Galimi from Divergent IT Consulting and Justin Bonaparte from CapTech, who set up their new SharePoint site, implemented the file structure and guided JazzArts in data clean up and migration of files to the new site. Matthew also trained JazzArts staff on SharePoint use. Jonathan Philips served as an Epic Change Agent, the volunteer facilitator of this project. We checked in with Ron Baldwin, CFO/COO of JazzArts Charlotte to learn about his experience in this phase of their G.A.I.N. journey. Ron explains that he looks forward to moving beyond DropBox and anticipates the following benefits:
- Improved ability to share files within and outside the organization, which may help save time
- Increased level of data security
- Improved ability to edit files without downloading
- Reduced cost, by eliminating need for DropBox (savings of $1,200+ annually)
Ron shares that, as a result, there is some potential for positive revenue impact:
- Improved customer experience by improved access to class recordings
- Improved ability to work with volunteers – can access the files they need without need for more DropBox licenses
- Freed time to focus on improved use of their CRM database (enhanced segmentation) could drive increase fundraising and improved marketing of programs
Matthew Galimi shares his appreciation for working on this project, “What I enjoyed about the project has been working with an organization that wants to continually grow and make their IT environment better. When I have volunteered in the past I have been advised to stay in my lane and not make recommendations. On this project the recommendations I made were received with openness and warmth.”
In closing, Ron shares, “Our volunteers have been awesome. Matt is an internet security expert and he went beyond this project and made many recommendations that we have already acted upon. He also conducted SharePoint training of our staff. Matt and Justin were very patient with us. Everyone on our team was ecstatic and really appreciates them. This is another important step in our G.A.I.N. process and improving the way we work through technology.”
