G.A.I.N. – Powered by Lowe’s
OMITT Trade School (OMITT) is a social purpose enterprise and best-in-class preparatory center committed to development of solid foundations for students’ future success and talent for the workforce. Welcoming students “as they are” in life’s journey, OMITT Trade School teaches trade skills with a human connection that inspires community involvement and economic growth. Serving Charlotte, North Carolina, and its surrounding areas, OMITT programs and partnerships create opportunities for students of all ages to unlock their future through the highest quality vocational training and employment preparation
Apparo’s G.A.I.N. (Growth, Agility and Innovation for Nonprofits) Grant Program provides nonprofit participants with the tools, training and other support they need to implement and sustain their technology and process improvements. G.A.I.N. delivers a one-year journey of technology and process improvement to a cohort of nonprofits to help them overcome their technology challenges and amplify their nonprofit impact. The G.A.I.N. program is generously sponsored by Lowe’s.
Currently, OMITT is manually keying student data into Excel spreadsheets and Word documents. Each file is maintained and used by a single team member. The documents are not currently shared between team members, making data sharing and reporting efforts difficult. OMITT leadership would like to work with a project team to create consolidated Excel and Word files that can be stored in a shared space and used collaboratively by staff, ultimately easing sharing and reporting efforts.
In this phase of OMITT’s G.A.I.N. journey, Ross Feldman will work with the organization to inventory their files and help determine what information is important from each file type. After determining what information is needed, the team will build collaborative Excel files that hold and organize the necessary data. Volunteer Ross Feldman will assist OMITT with migrating their current data to the new file system and help determine the appropriate location for the organization to store documents. Additionally, staff will receive light Excel and Teams training so they can effectively and efficiently collaborate.
