In this CXO Tech Insights forum, panelists Rob Bence of Tepper Sports & Entertainment, Ames Flynn of Weisiger Group, and Mike Laurenti of Ahold Delhaize joined moderator Nelson de la Cruz of Software AG for a discussion on the evolving roles of CIOs.
Topic Background: CIOs are no longer just tech specialists. They are taking center stage and partnering with their CEOS as partners to the corporate vision. For companies to be successful, tech departments cannot be silos but must establish strong business and tech partnerships across the company and become vocal ambassadors to promote innovation within the technical sphere of their corporation.
During the panel, the moderator discussed the following questions with our panelists:
- Would you give me an example of how you, as a Technology Leader, align with your lines of Business regarding strategy, revenue, or customer experience?
- Would you give me an example of a transformation that occurred in your roles as a CIO during COVID that jay not have occurred otherwise?
- The last of the “Baby Boomer” generation will be retiring over the next few years, how do you see technology assisting with this organizational challenge? [re: “institutional knowledge”, new opportunities – no need to do it the “old way”]
- At the risk of over-simplification, organizations strive to do 3 things:
- Deliver on the mission.
- Do it efficiently.
- And minimize the risk
Interestingly, Process Mining helps you find bottlenecks and opportunities to automate, as well as detecting and alerting on non-compliance. How do you see Process Mining playing a role in your organizations?
After the questions, the moderator did a blitz round and had a quick conversation with the panelists about AI.
