Nonprofit technology adoption success is ensured with critical one-on-one support
Throughout their participation in the G.A.I.N. program, to help ensure successful technology adoption, nonprofits are also provided with one-on-one support through Apparo’s Tech Therapy program. They are matched with a technology mentor (a local skilled volunteer with tech expertise) and receive support from Apparo Tech Therapists.
We checked in with Rose Jones Edwards, Executive Director of OMITT Innovative Solutions, to learn about the impact of the Tech Therapy that she has received so far, in addition to her first completed Community Impact Project.
Tech Therapy has been key to successful technology adoption by OMITT Innovative Solutions
OMITT has been served through our Tech Therapy program with acquisition/set up of new laptops for staff and migration to Microsoft 365 (including new data management protocols and shifting all staff from personal to organizational email.) Key benefits have included:
- Mentorship – “Jonathan (Shannon, WSP USA) has been phenomenal, helping me understand more about the needs of our organization and other things related to technology in layman’s terms.”
- Laptops – Ability to work from home, including using a “Lunch and Learn” approach as a team for additional needed upskilling – this approach has helped get everyone on staff, even the least tech savvy, on board with technology adoption
- Shift to Microsoft 365, which ensures:
- relevance/professionalism of the organization
- data integrity and ease of consistent access to correct data across the team
OMITT is now on track to meet nonprofit expansion goal of tripling students served
Rose shares: “No matter what the size of your organization, having the right equipment and infrastructure is fundamental and we were so lacking before working with Apparo. Apparo overall, with G.A.I.N., has surrounded us with the people and tools we so desperately need. The gifts of Apparo resources, support and our laptops has been phenomenal for us. You have no idea how impactful it has been for our organization to understand what we need from a technology perspective to meet our expansion goals. You can’t expand without the right technology. Now we’re on the right path and we’re not finished yet!”
