Independence Fund leadership reached out to Apparo for support in selecting the best software to manage their data and client experience. Today they anticipate improved experience for and larger reach of Veterans in need of physical and emotional support.
Founded in 2007, The Independence Fund is committed to empowering our nation’s catastrophically wounded, injured, or ill Veterans to overcome physical, mental, and emotional wounds incurred in the line of duty. They are dedicated to improving the lives of both our Veterans and their families. Through their Mobility, Caregiver, Adaptive Sports, Advocacy, and Family programs, The Independence Fund strives to bridge the gap of unmet needs for Veterans and their caregivers.
The Independence Fund reached out to Apparo for help as they were in need of a more efficient way to track donors, clients, and programs. They also felt it was important to have an easier system for clients to use to apply for programs and for collecting metrics for reporting and sharing impact stories with the community and donors.
As a follow up to their work with Corning, they continued working with their Epic Change Agent, Dan Knezevic from FileSolve, and were joined by a new volunteer to the project, Rajan Merchant of Perficient. With the help of these volunteers, the team selected Microsoft Dynamics as their software solution.

Once their software solution is implemented, The Independence Fund leadership anticipates:
- Increased operating efficiencies for staff
- Improved user experience for clients, allowing them to easily apply for services/programs
- Increased revenue driven by improved storytelling/donor communications
- Increased program growth, through enhanced ability to identify new clients that may benefit from programs
Jeremy Davis, Veteran Services Director at The Independence Fund, shared that “the team really took the time to figure out where we needed to be and to help get us on the right path. We can’t wait to implement our new software.”
Rajan Merchant, project volunteer, was excited to share about his experience on the project, stating “this is my second project with Apparo supporting TIF. Throughout many meetings with Jeremy, Sam, and the team, I loved seeing how energized they were about what a modern, robust CRM platform would be able to do for their organization. The decision to implement Microsoft Dynamics will allow them to more effectively run their programs and serve both Veterans and caregivers.” Apparo is so thankful for Rajan’s contribution to this project. It is volunteers like Rajan that make our community a great place to live!
