Simon Pfister, Senior Manager at Accenture, joined Apparo as a volunteer in late 2019 and has already supported five nonprofits with his consulting skills through the Mission Possible Award program.
Simon explains how he got started with Apparo, “When I worked in New York, my commute was over an hour, making it difficult to engage in the local community. When I moved to the Accenture Charlotte office, I was looking for ways to get involved. I had participated in corporate level initiatives, but wanted to do something locally. When I heard about the Mission Possible Award program, I thought it would be a good match. In theory, anyone can help a nonprofit, but this is a way to use my skills to make a difference.”
From 2019 – 2022, Simon has delivered Art of the Possible consulting sessions to four nonprofits and also guided them as they prepared their Mission Possible Award program applications:
- Fashion & Compassion (now BraveWorks)
- Veterans Bridge Home
- Habitat Charlotte
- Queen City Robotics Alliance
In 2021, he joined a team of his Accenture colleagues in an Apparo Community Impact Project to deliver the Mission Possible Award program prize to the winner: Carolina Youth Coalition. He shares, “It was very rewarding to be able to help them get it right, to use their $10,000 and consulting support in the best way possible and to hear that they believe it will make a big impact. Being able to support a nonprofit with a huge opportunity like this is a real accomplishment. Seeing that impact and how much it meant to them means the world to me.”
In closing, Simon shares, “In the past I worked for small companies that had no corporate citizenship efforts. Now, working for Accenture, I appreciate how engaged we are in supporting the Charlotte community. The ability to contribute through the Mission Possible program is very important to me. It gives me real work-life balance and I love being able to help in my community.”
