Skilled volunteer delivers nonprofit technology training on Salesforce to Discovery Place.
Discovery Place is a 501c3 nonprofit and a hub for science education and exploration in the Carolinas with four distinct museum experiences serving more than 750,000 people a year through Museum visits, interactive educational programming and community outreach initiatives. They aspire to shape a future where people embrace science to create opportunities, build hope, solve problems and bring positive change for our world.
When Discovery Place leadership needed support with Salesforce Marketing Cloud, they reached out to Apparo for helped. They were supported at no cost through Apparo’s Tech Therapy program by Apparo’s Jennifer Ray and also matched to skilled volunteers Jessica Schreiber Wheeler and Dea Tabakovic of ECHO Technology Solutions to provide training, documentation and guidance.
We met with Katie Konfara, Database Administrator to learn about the significance of our work together on Discovery Place.
Katie explained, “Our Marketing team reached out to me for support with the Marketing Cloud in Salesforce, which is not my area of expertise. They had reached out to Salesforce, but could not get the depth of support that they needed and we really didn’t know what questions to ask. Board members gave us some suggestions for companies that could support us, but they were out of reach of our budget. Discovery Place has a strong positive relationship with Apparo, so I reached out for help.
“It’s been a great partnership and I have appreciated it so much. We got a lot of useful information and a great kick start. Apparo went above and beyond. I didn’t realize the level of attention that Jennifer and the team would give. I expected Apparo to be good connectors, but then fade into the background, but they were with us every step of the way. That was a delight to me because it kept us on track. Jennifer is so easy to work with and Jessica was great at answering all of our questions and providing documentation.”
