Winter 2021 Update:
Apparo’s support has been “a lifesaver” as The Learning Collaborative delivers virtual support to the at-risk children and families they serve.
April 2020 – The Learning Collaborative preschool is currently closed because of the pandemic, but they have been able to develop a strategy to continue the learning for the at-risk children they serve, TLC@home, using Learning Packs and technology to ensure their students are ready for a successful school entry and to offer support to their families. Equally important is their effort to maintain the wonderful community they have established at their school.
Pam Gray, TLC’s Director of Development shares that the technology support they received from Apparo and Bank of America has been “a lifesaver” as they navigate this complex situation and work to continue to maintain education and community.

Teachers are using online tools like Class Dojo and Zoom meetings to have real-time read-alouds, sing-alongs, and other activities to bring the TLC lesson plans home and parents are very enthusiastic. Teachers have also shared a suggested daily schedule for parents. Having specific activities, time to connect online as a group, frequent check-ins with teachers, and a routine will help both parents and children navigate these difficult times as smoothly as possible.
