Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Carolinas
Donna Dunlap joined Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Carolinas (BBBSCC) as the Chief Executive Officer in February 2016. She has over 30 years of not for profit and for profit leadership experience. As CEO for Big Brothers Big Sisters, Donna’s mission is to enable the organization to provide purposeful one to one mentoring to support youth ages 5-18 years who are facing adversity. The organization’s measurable, positive outcomes such as elevated school performance, avoidance of risky behaviors and enhanced self-confidence empower the promise and potential that resides in all young people. She also serves as a UNC Adjunct professor in the Public Policy Department.
Prior to her current role, Donna held senior leadership roles both regionally and nationally with Xerox Corporation and Microsoft Corporation consistently delivering standout performance outcomes. She has extensive operational and financial management experience. Donna is Lean Six Sigma Black Belt trained and has demonstrated expertise in assessing problems to identify root causes and leaning processes.
Donna has served as an engaged board member on several local, non-profit boards during her fourteen years in Charlotte. She currently is a member of Charlotte Women Executives, The Charlotte Chapter of The Links Incorporated, Women’s Impact Fund and Charlotte Club Rotary board member. She is an alumna of Leadership Charlotte-Class 33 and serves as the Steering Committee Lead for the Mecklenburg Executives Council (MEC) of nonprofit leaders. Donna is also a member of the Advisory Committee for Dress for Success and the Charlotte Leadership Councils’ Education Committee. Most recently she joined the Apparo board of directors.
In 2019 Donna was named one of “South Charlotte’s 40 Most Powerful Women” by the Charlotte Weekly. She is a frequently requested inspirational guest speaker, workshop facilitator and panelist for public and private sector groups. She has been and is a mentor to many nonprofit leaders who are seeking advancement.
Donna attended Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. She attended the University of Connecticut where she earned her Master of Business Administration degree and was named a University Fellow. A continuous learner, Donna in 2018 received a Certificate in Non Profit Leadership from Boston College and in 2020 a Certificate of Completion from the Third Sector (Non Profit) Leadership Development Program.
Born in Charlotte and raised in Connecticut, Donna is passionate about collaborating with others to serve the community. She enjoys time with her family, travel, reading and exploring other cultures.
