Impact Update: Through following their technology plan, Beds for Kids has amplified their nonprofit impact, increased annual deliveries, and is looking towards expansion.
18 months following the completion of this Community Impact Project, we checked in with Zach Smith to learn how their technology plan is amplifying Beds for Kids’ nonprofit impact. He shares that not only was the goal of improving the website and intake forms met when addressing their original technology challenges, but with the new plan and the help of Charlotte-based Technology Consultant, Ross Feldman, they were able to drastically increase the efficiency of their furniture pick-up and data collection processes. Zach Smith shares, “Even with donations being down during COVID, Ross helped us think through the inflows and outflows of our inventory and pivot towards fewer pickups with larger quantities of furniture, and store that data securely. Saving time on pickups and inventory tracking allows us to serve more families.”
Beds for Kids is now optimizing their inventory, allowing them to spend more time looking ahead. Zach explains, “Through this project we’ve seen what prioritizing technology can do for us. We want to be even better at getting furniture out to families in need. We see so much more we want to improve to expand our impact. We’re so thankful.”
“We delivered 300 more beds in 2022 than in 2021, roughly a 15% increase. We’re eager to reach our goal of 2,500 beds delivered in 2023. That’s about 18% more beds delivered to families in need. What we accomplished this year couldn’t have been done with the old way of doing things. Thanks to this plan it’s now just a matter of getting the inventory to those in need. We’re even considering the possibility of expanding our nonprofit impact to South Carolina.”
