Slalom skilled volunteers helped select a Learning Management System for Dottie Rose Foundation that will allow the organization to more than double the number of girls they serve each year.
Dottie Rose Foundation serves to connect the dots within the technology and computer science sphere to educate, support, and inspire the next generation by creating a supportive algorithm to close the gender gap for females in the field of technology and computer sciences.
Dottie Rose reached out to Apparo for assistance with the identification of a learning management system to create, deliver, and manage their content, as well as monitor participation and assess performance among learners. Apparo matched them with a volunteer team from Slalom. This project was awarded to Dottie Rose Foundation by Elizabeth Austin, winner of Apparo’s 2020 TechExec Award.
The Slalom volunteer team partnered with Dottie Rose to understand current business processes related to storing and sharing learning tools as well as prioritized requirements for a software solution. The team provided marketplace research, demos, price comparisons, and assisted Dottie Rose with evaluating potential solutions. After completing this thorough evaluation process, Dottie Rose selected SAP Litmos as their new LMS.
The LMS will increase Dottie Rose’s ability to expand their reach and meet their organizational goal to more than double the number of girls they serve from 170 today to 400 in the next year. Dottie Rose shared a few examples of the impact the LMS will have on their ability to expand their programming by offering virtual courses and workshops in a box:
- Dottie Rose will be able to offer more scalable programs and that will allow them to engage in more opportunities, such as Binary Bling Boxes. Dottie Rose has a goal to sell 500 Binary Bling Boxes through their LMS in the first year.
- The Learning Management System selected will allow Dottie Rose to sell Workshops in a Box to girls in other markets. Dottie Rose has a goal to sell 100 Workshops in the first year
The organization also expects to improve staff productivity as the new tool will allow Dottie Rose to have organized program materials that can be easily accessed and shared.
Dottie Rose Founder, Dr. Sharon Jones, shared the importance of the tool for their organization, “The Slalom team has given us a gift. We have to expand because technology doesn’t sit still. By helping us select a LMS system, we are improving our technology and will be able to expand our programs and impact lives of more girls.”

From the first interaction with this inspiring team, we knew that their values aligned so deeply with ours at Slalom and that partnering with them would be an enriching experience for everyone. We were able to help the leaders of Dottie Rose bring light to their long-term vision of providing educational experiences for girls in technology across the world, while also helping them find ways to extend the moment from the classroom to virtual learnings experiences. The Slalom volunteers leave that experience feeling empowered to help young girls and women fulfill their dreams in technology and deeply grateful for the relationships we built with the amazing Dottie Rose Team.”
