Skilled volunteer supported artist in improving his website, so he can attract new customers and grow his business.
After completion of work in the Knight Foundation cohort, Will White (artist of ThatWillWhite designs) knew he needed more support to optimize his business website. He reached out to Apparo’s Jennifer Ray for help and, through Apparo’s Tech Therapy program, he was matched to skilled volunteer Brandon Smith of LaunchUX (also an Apparo Expert Link partner).
He shares his perspective on the support he gained through Apparo’s free Tech Therapy program:
“Through my experience in the Knight Foundation cohort program with Apparo, I realized that when it comes to technology, there are some things that I didn’t know that I didn’t know and that it makes sense to ask for help. My website is my calling card, it’s how I start my relationship with new customers and I knew it needed to be improved, but I didn’t know what to prioritize.
“Working with Brandon felt that I was talking to a friend, who was supporting me for the love of the work that he does. He gave me so many little gems that could help improve functionality for users, up the professional look and increase traffic to my website. He gave me a play by play that allowed me to go in and completely change my entire website, make an exponential shift by myself. It’s been one month and I’m already getting so much positive feedback.
“This support has been one of my most valuable experiences with Apparo because of all the clear takeaways. If it had not been for this support from Apparo, I would have been deep diving for days on YouTube, stumbling my way along, trying to fact check what I was seeing. Working with my Tech Therapy volunteer was a beautiful, succinct package for me.”
