MorganFranklin Counsulting skilled volunteers will improve operating efficiencies, enhanced security and increase the ability to better serve clients for Thompson Child & Family Focus Services with a Technology Assessment and Plan.
Thompson Child & Family Focus (Thompson) has six locations in multiple states that focus on mental health treatment, family services and education, foster care, early childhood development, and case management.
Thompson leadership recognizes that a solid technology plan is a priority in moving their organization forward and aligning to their strategic vision. They needed a partner to review their current technology framework and policies. Apparo matched Thompson with skilled volunteer Matt Campbell from MorganFranklin Consulting. After reviewing Thompson’s current technology framework, infrastructure and policies, Matt documented technology recommendations and provided Thompson with a technology roadmap that will allow the organization to work more securely, efficiently and effectively in both the short and long term.
See one-page project overview Snapshot here.
The implementation of these technology recommendations will allow staff to work more efficiently, experience less downtime due to technology issues and provide the clients with a more seamless service. Thompson’s IT Director, Cody Thomas, shared that “anytime we improve staff efficiency, we improve our staff’s ability to serve the clients better.” Thomas shared that it is not uncommon for interruptions in client services to occur because of technology issues. By implementing the recommendations provided, more clients will receive the services as expected leading to a better experience for the children and families that Thompson serves.
The IT department staff will also be impacted by this project, experiencing ~170 hours annually in time saved. This time will be used to prioritize technology projects that will ensure the proper framework is in place to support organizational goals to increase reach and number of services provided. It will also allow IT staff more time to be proactive in managing maintenance tasks and enhancing organizational security.
Thomas shared, “having a third party review is something that should occur routinely to ensure that the organization is aware of new technology and to make sure the organization continues to grow and evolve.” Thomas described Campbell as an “awesome resource” and went on to say that “Matt understands real world implications of implementing new technology but also understands how we can accomplish tasks with tools that are relevant for Thompson.”
Laura Stein, Thompson CFO, described Campbell as a mentor and shared “it is always helpful to have outside experts come in and give further insight and recommendations.”
Campbell contributed over 110 hours to this project and shared his excitement to give back to the community, “I was happy to have been a part of this. I love what Apparo does and I love being able to give a little bit back.” Apparo is could not be Apparo without our volunteers are we are so thankful for volunteers like Matt!
