Apparo partners with MYEP to give back in a unique way
Apparo’s main mission is to give back to the greater Charlotte community by providing nonprofits with the IT training and infrastructure needed to function in the 21st century. This summer, Apparo’s charitable roots are extending to providing educational opportunities for three young men.
Apparo has partnered with the Mayor’s Youth Employment Program (MYEP). This is an organization that pairs students with companies based off their stated interests. MYEP has paired Apparo with 3 interns: Ce’Vion, Timothy, and Marwan. Ce’Vion is shadowing Client Services, Timothy is shadowing the Tech Department of Apparo, and Marwan is shadowing Marketing. Through this program, Apparo aims to give back to the greater Charlotte area by educating and training young students.

How is your experience at Apparo so far?
I like it here. It’s a very relaxed place. There isn’t a lot of pressure on anyone, so I can relax without stress. That type of environment is good for the people who work there, because they are people too.
What are you hoping to get out of this internship?
Just working experience, that’s all for me. Although it’s interesting and I do like it here, it’s mostly for the working experience.
What project are you most excited for?
100 Gardens. I was in the meeting and the representative is trying to sort out all of his files for his company. They make greenhouses with fish (hydroponics) and then implement them within schools. At my school we have a new building. I would love to see 100 Gardens implement a hydroponics system there.
Meet Timothy – Apparo’s Technology Intern
What are you most excited by in this internship?
I am most excited by the new skills that I hope to acquire, such as developing rapport with nonprofits.
What are your ambitions and how do they align with your experience so far?
My ambition is to further enhance my network. Apparo allows me to meet a variety of people.
How do you think your communication, leadership and responsibility skills will develop through this program?
My level of communication and responsibility skills will develop through this program. This is especially through the chances I will be given to take tasks into my own hands. Further, I’m using my leadership skills to discover more ways to include Apparo communication and the responsibilities I have been given into my daily life.
Meet Marwan – Apparo’s Marketing Intern
What aspect of Apparo interests you the most?
I love having a mentor. I feel like I am in a place where I can learn and grow into a more efficient person.
What are your thoughts on the MYEP?
I think this program is great for helping students without work experience. It’s also great for students who struggle with entering the workforce.
What are you hoping to get out of this internship?
I want to gain self-discipline and structure through this internship. I also want to develop how I function effectively in the workplace.
