Under the banner of Digital Transformation, John leads a transformational tech group that includes design thinking, UX design, software engineering, and cloud-native engineering platforms. The group practices and teaches the discipline of design thinking, lean startup, and software engineering toward building amazing software products. John's vision for turning Duke Energy into a digital utility has contributed to new ways of working at the Duke Energy Innovation Center at Optimist Hall and beyond. Prior to the pandemic, Optimist Hall was the epicenter for innovation and transformation, inviting teammates from across the enterprise to work alongside digital natives and experience digital culture. Now that vision is being expanded rapidly and virtually across the enterprise. John is a lifelong technologist who fell in love with the energy industry and is driven to apply the digital mindset toward accelerating a "net-zero carbon" energy future.
