Eric Christian is VP and Enterprise CTO for Atrium Health. Eric’s role is to define the IT strategic vision from a technological point of view and ensure alignment with the overall business strategy of Atrium Health. This role collaborates closely with senior business leaders to understand their business priorities, and then proactively determines how technology can be best applied and leveraged to enable new business models and service lines, to improve the coordination of care across settings & continuum of care, and to improve patient and physician satisfaction, quality, safety and outcomes at Atrium Health.

Eric, along with key enterprise IT decision makers & team members, business leaders, clinicians and external partners devises the Atrium Health IT technology framework, technology procedures and practices of the organization. He ensures that the appropriate policies and structure for managing underlying IT infrastructure, which comprises all Atrium Health computer, network, telephony, data center, Internet and technology capabilities are in place and optimized for maximum business benefit to the system. In addition, he brokers and manages key relationships with strategic IT vendors and suppliers, data center partners, and outsource firms to procure and manage IT assets and ensure the efficient running of the IT infrastructure.

Eric’s previous role at Cummins was Executive Director, Chief Technology Officer for the firm. In this capacity, he provided leadership and direction on the global technology plans for the overall Cummins’ global IT operating environment. This included the global architecture, technology strategy, information security, IT risk management, operations functions as well as the design and development of complex, integrated and standardized IT solutions to support business functional requirements. He also ensured that the Cummins IT architecture vision aligns with IT strategy and business goals.

Before joining the Cummins organization in March 2010, Eric spent over 30 years in technology and brings extensive automotive, banking and financial services, transportation, lodging & technology industry experience from his roles with Bank of America, IBM, Marriott International, General Motors & GMAC Financial Services. Prior to this role, Eric has held several leadership & technical roles across a broad set of I/T and business-related disciplines.

Eric earned his BS in Technology & Management from University of Maryland and an Executive MBA in Strategic Management & Marketing from Michigan State University in Michigan. He is also a certified Six Sigma Green Belt.
