We checked in recently with Apparo nonprofit partner since 2018, Project Life Movement.
Project Life Movement saves lives and helps cure diseases such as leukemia, lymphoma and sickle cell disease by growing the number of potential bone marrow and stem cell donors on the global registry.
We checked in recently with Ann Henegar, Executive Director of Project Life Movement, to learn about her experience working with Apparo since 2018. She reached out to Apparo initially for help in moving away from Dropbox and received guidance from Stephanie McKee through Apparo’s Tech Therapy program. “Dropbox was inefficient for us and we couldn’t get the service we needed to help streamline. Stephanie helped us identify and move to Box, which has been very helpful to us as a team to stay organized.”
Stephanie also played a very valuable role in Ann’s decision to select Bloomerang as their fundraising tool. As Ann shares, “I’m not a technology person. I like having someone to hold my hand, someone to talk to, rather than reading a manual.”
When Courtney Ramey, Executive Director at Jabian Consulting, won Apparo’s 2019 TechExec Community Impact Award, part of the award was an opportunity to direct $5,000 of pro bono support to a nonprofit of her choice. She chose Project Life Movement and they were supported through:
- Additional Tech Therapy – As they planned to migrate to Microsoft 365, Ann worked with Stephanie to review their vendor proposal. During this process, Stephanie identified a $1,600 cost savings.
- IT Coaching- Volunteer Ryan Jessup of OptML worked with Ann to help build her skill set in creating data charts in PowerPoint.
- Training – Volunteer Kevin Yount worked with Ann and her team to provide them with an overview of Microsoft 365 and an understanding of how it can support their business processes and needs.
In closing, Ann shares, “We love Apparo. The services you provide are tremendous and you are such nice people. You saved us a lot of money, helping us find nonprofit discounts and volunteers. We are so grateful for that.”
