Ames B. Flynn
Ames is currently, the Chief Information Officer at CTE, a Charlotte-based heavy equipment dealer, service, rental and consulting, including Carolina CAT (Catepillar) construction and power generation, LiftOne materials handling and consulting, including (Hyster-Yale) forklifts. In this role, he is responsible for the overall leadership of the Information Technology Department, Enterprise Program/Project Management and participates on the company Senior Leadership Team.
Prior to CTE, Ames was an Operating Principal Consultant for Davidson Kempner Partners, a New York based private equity firm. At the same time, he was also President of Trone, a Greensboro, NC based Marketing and eCommerce/Digital Marketing agency.
Ames is the former Executive-Vice President of Shared Services at Extended Stay America Hotels, where he worked from 2013 to 2020. In this role, he was tasked with the overall leadership of information technology, marketing and facilities departments supporting company-owned and franchised operations. He also led strategy, planning and operations across shared services departments with a focus on digital technology/marketing, the guest experience, e-Commerce, brand/social/marketing communications, as well as facilities renovations and maintenance.
Prior to joining Extended Stay America Hotels, Mr. Flynn held executive positions including Senior Vice President and CIO at Rent A Center, Vice-President Digital Strategy and IT Customer Systems Michael’s Stores, and Vice-President eCommerce/Special Order Sales Lowe’s Home Improvement.
In addition to his affiliation with Apparo, Ames has worked in volunteer settings with Apparo and the Dallas CIO Executive Council as a board member, as well as Charlotte CIO, American Furniture Mfgs. Association, United Way of Rowan County, Salisbury Academy and First Presbyterian Church, Salisbury, N.C.
Ames earned both a B.S. Business (Marketing) and an MBA (Finance/Accounting) from Wake Forest University. He lives in Salisbury with his wife. They have two grown children, one working/living in Charlotte and the other working/living in Washington, D.C. Ames enjoys investing, tennis, golf, fitness and outdoors on High Rock lake.
